If I Re-did Reality Shows...

Has it really been a whole week since my last blog? Ugh, sorry about that! We have a teething baby and a toddler with strep! Thankfully we have Advil and antibiotics!!

So, I'm linking up today to talk about TV. Instead of telling you what I watched all week I'm telling you my thoughts on a couple of reality shows...and how I would fix them!

Don't get your hopes up...I edited this...

Top Chef is first on my list of shows that need upgrade. Seriously, I'd be a better cook too with the best knives and top shelf ingredients. $500 at Whole Foods to make ONE dish?!? Can I keep the $300 I don't spend?

I think we need a Moms Edition of Top Chef. A few rules would apply...

- No more shopping strictly at Whole Foods. You'll be given $100 TOPS and forced to choose between the corner grocery store, Farmer's Market, and WF. Most challenges you'll be given $25-$50. (Seriously, who spends more than that per meal for an average family??)

- Some challenges will have odd time constraints. Like, 5mins in you'll have to take 1min breaks every 2mins for 10mins to "break up a sibling fight." Or 10mins in the baby wakes up and you have to cook while holding a doll (and keep that doll safe from knives and splatters)

- You have to make a meal while allowing a toddler to "help" with prep and cooking.

- Challenge: You're assigned to bring treats for a playdate...one child can't have dairy, one can't have peanuts (which means no nuts ANYWHERE), and one can't have gluten.

- Halfway into cooking a random ingredient gets removed and you have to finish the meal without it...

I think it's MUCH more realistic and entertaining!

Survivor doesn't need realism (although, that *would* be fun too); it mostly needs a face-lift.

- No more clues to the hidden immunity idols. It's understood that one is at your camp. Go find it.

- Hidden immunity idol AT CHALLENGES! This would only work after the merge when the challenges are for individual immunity. You can choose to opt out and go one a search instead of participate in the challenge. You'll each be given a different clue and sent off to look. This would be good for short challenges.

I haven't thought it through as much as Top Chef. I think Survivor is on its way out as a show...or it should be.

What do you think? Would you watch my shows?

The Long and Short of it

Today I'm linking up with

Boob Tube Babble

I'm talking about TV intros today!

Remember when the theme song took at least a full minute of show?

Example: Full House

I remember seeing the opening credits for Lost and thinking "Wait, did we miss something?"

I can't decide if I like a longer or shorter opening better. If you have a cool theme song (like House or CSI) I'm probably going to be okay with listening to 60 seconds or so...But I do like just cutting to the show as well.

So, which do YOU like better?

Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

That is my 9 month old CLIMBING...He already climbs the stairs.

That is my 2 year old, fully clothed, in the bathroom sink (yes, there was water).

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

As a mom (especially a mom of boys!) I need that extra strength. There are days when I'm ready to throw in the towel. There are days the Enemy wants me to resent having children. There are days when I literally need to run away...(I always come back!)

I can do all things [change yet another diaper, break up another fight, deal with more screaming, wake after another sleepless night, clean up another mess...] through Christ who strengthens me.

Yesterday's Run

Source
Monday night I did a dumb thing...

I was doing the moves from P90X Chest and Back without the video (I had them listed) I wasn't paying attention to my form and tweaked my neck. I quickly developed a huge knot right at the base of my neck. I took an Advil and went to bed.

Tuesday (yesterday) I woke up sore. I pulled out the Arnica, Tiger Balm, and Advil for the day. By the end of the day I felt almost 100% better and decided to go on my run. I planned to keep it short and easy.

And then I started running...

The burn in my chest and legs felt amazing. I could actually feel the muscles in my back and neck start to RELEASE as I ran. The stress of the day melted off of me with each step. I realized I was running pretty fast and tried to check my pace and actually couldn't make myself slow down.

I walked a bit and came up on one of the steeper hills in my path (my neighborhood is full of them). At that point the chorus for Crossfade's No Giving Up came on and I took it at a dead sprint. I made it halfway up before I slowed to a run to finish it out. The way back is mostly downhill and I took that at an easy run/jog.

I got back and started using the music to calculate how long I'd been out. I hadn't planned on keeping track so I rounded UP a lot (because it felt fair) I had to do the math twice...each time it came out to less than 10mins.

This morning there's still some tension and soreness, but it's the kind that can be expected from working out.

I felt amazing. Can I officially call myself a runner now?

Pinterest...I want to go shopping

Crazy About My Baybah

I went on an "outfit pinning spree" the other day. I need to go shopping but I'm waiting 1) Until I'm at my goal weight 2) until we can afford it!

Which is your favorite?

Phone Link Up

I'm back again.

Watching the delivery men

Fridge doors

Empty space

*sigh* Ahh...love it

Franklin made a peanut butter sandwich

I actually got dressed on Wed.

Dear Grocery Store, It's not even Halloween yet!!

Franklin kept insisting he wear the headband around his neck.

This weird rash...it's been a week. Now it just looks like bruises.

RAIN! It didn't stop us from getting our raw butter from the Farmer's Market

I thought this was important

At the zoo

Elephants are his favorite animal.

So that was my week. I was so excited about the fridge!!! Did anything exciting happen to you this week?

Sunday, October 9, 2011

Yep, I'm a wuss.

I was planning to run this morning. I was going to start my day with a 2 mile run around the neighborhood.

Uh, it's raining.

If I were a hardcore runner I'd don a hooded sweatshirt and head out anyway.

Obviously I'm not a hardcore runner!

Do you run when it's raining? Or, if you live in a cold climate, SNOWING?

Boob Tube Babble

Linking up again!

Boob Tube Babble

Pan Am
I FINALLY watched this show and I'm hooked. I love love love it! I'm from the wrong era. *sigh*

Dexter
YAY Dexter is back!! It's weird to see the kid from Roswell as the bad guy...but I get "stuck" on characters like that.

CSI
I recently got caught up. The episode with the family that got killed? Yeah, I also buy baking soda a lot at a time...I thought it was funny that was "evidence" for a drug ring!

Glee
SIGH
Was this number really necessary? I thought the, uh, floor work during the dance part in the gym was a BIT much. They're supposed to be teenage girls.

 Warehouse 13
Season Finale. If you watched it you'll understand these thoughts...If you didn't you'll want to stop reading.
1) Why couldn't HG have put the forcefield around the BOMB instead of the people and saved herself too? I get it was a big moment and her one selfless act and blah blah blah...it was stupid.
2) Stefan called the mole from the start. Like, 2mins in to the episode he says, "THAT is the ultimate plan." He was right.
3) When Artie pulled out the watch I looked at Stefan and said, "What does that do again?" I don't remember...if it just magically fixes everything I'm going to be irritated.

America's Next Top Model
Do these girls not have to have medical checks? How many seasons have we had someone with some sort of medical issue?

Survivor
Do they show a lot of this guy's Christian professions because Matt was such a popular player last season?

There are a lot more I'm loving right now. Fringe, Ringer, etc...

What I Wore Wednesday

I decided to actually take time to pick out my clothes this morning...You know, instead of just grabbing the jeans off the floor and whatever tshirt I put my hand on first. (Yes, that's how I USUALLY choose my clothing)

So here you go: I even did my makeup!

Those are a size 6 Jeans by the way. Yes, I'm super excited about that.

I think I'm channeling the 60's with the sweater (I've since taken it off around the house but I'll wear it when we go to the store later!) I watched Pan Am on Hulu yesterday so that *might* have something to do with it...

What did you wear today? Link up!

Random Thoughts Time

- I need to buy gates for the stairs. My BABY was halfway up yesterday (sigh!)

- I think I'm going to start running every day. I only do a mile or so at a time...is that too much?

- I recently bought a size 6 jeans...I haven't been a size 6 in 3 years.

- I love my Diva Cup. I keep wondering why I didn't do this sooner...

- I have a love/hate relationship with Facebook. It allows me to keep in touch with my brother while he's deployed, reunite with old friends (including some from elementary school!), and build my business...
But it's also a chance for everyone to say what they think without a filter. A lot of people hide behind the anonymity of the internet and say things they normally wouldn't say in person. Some people *would* say these things in person... I guess I just need to get used to it as the internet is slowly becoming more and more focused  on social media.

- I guess my husband did *not* have food poisoning...because now Franklin is sick too.

- I need help with my 2 year old. He only listens when I yell. It's always been that way (before people start saying "well it's because you yell all the time.")

Any random thoughts you'd like to share?

Phone Pics: Family BBQ (and other stuff)

See all the stuff? Franklin barricaded him in...

Playing with the flash on my phone. It flashes a couple of times before ACTUALLY taking the picture.

Franklin's rash on Day 2 (it got better later)

Notice the shoes. Yes, there was water too.

I salvaged most of it

He was watching me play with vinegar and baking soda

Just a cute kid

Stefan's family's land

Homemade pico de gallo. I only eat it at these gatherings!

One drink option

The other drink option (poorly stored wine...most of it was gross lol)

Cute grasshopper

Cute kid

Nearly naked kid

the lake

When Stefan was a kid the water came up to the pier...they could jump off.

On the hayride

I don't know why...I just thought it was a neat photo to take.

Daddy and son

Crashed out

It was an AWESOME weekend!
